Fear and Hate in the Novel 1984 Essays
Fear and Hate in the Novel 1984 Essays Fear and Hate in the Novel 1984 Essay Fear and Hate in the Novel 1984 Essay Essay Topic: 1984 Fear causes hate, and hate seeds violence and conflict. In the novel, 1984, the overriding party uses numerous techniques in order to mold society into their idea of an ideal person through altering their emotions, memory and thoughts. The party rewrites history and changes facts and the party has (have) been using fear to assist in remaking history to direct the little love left in the people towards Big Brother. They also use fear to eradicate all chances of thoughts being against the party by removing basic human instincts and leaving them as a blank canvas. The party has the means of controlling and monitoring the people through organizations and technology made for the sole purpose of keeping the people fearful of persecution. The use of fear is an essential part of the partys full control over the people. (End with a sentence saying how these things seed violence and conflict) The alteration of history and facts is the Partys biggest tool to push their frightening and hateful views onto the people. Oceania is constantly at war for the sole purpose of maintaining power and keeping the people ignorant to the world outside of Oceania. In the beginning of the novel, Oceania is at war with Eurasia and the party portrays the Eurasian army as robotic soldiers. Winston saw that; A new poster had suddenly appeared all over London. It had no caption, andrepresented simply the monstrous figure of a Eurasian soldier, three or four metres high, striding forward with expressionless Mongolian face and enormous boots, a submachinegun pointed from his hip.(p188) The reasoning behind this alteration is to dehumanize the soldiers and create fear and hatred towards Eurasia which in turn, seeds violence. This is essential as the party needs an outlet to direct the populations anger and hatred. it would become more of a challenge to contain them. Another way the party shifts the hatred away from them and to the Eurasians is Hate Week. There :

The key word is help- getting someone to do the work for you is a big mistake. But if you want assistance, including guidance, brainstorming, or even some constructive criticism, you shouldnââ¬â¢t be afraid to seek it out. Where Can You Get Help With Your College Application? There are so many resources available that it can be difficult to figure out which ones you should pursue. Do you need an all-around coach for your application? A tutor? Will a visit to a guidance counselor cut it, or do you need to spend money on a complete assistance package? Donââ¬â¢t panic. Take a moment to outline what problems youââ¬â¢re having so you can better solve them. Even if you feel like youââ¬â¢re writing down every single thing about your application, itââ¬â¢s worth doing- if you can see the problem, you can come up with a plan to fix it. Depending on what problems youââ¬â¢re having, you have a few options to handle it. Some common hangups are: You can't figure out what colleges to apply to You don't understand your application You're not sure you can afford college Your grades aren't where you'd like them to be You don't know who to ask for letters of recommendation You're not sure how to write your essay Your standardized test scores aren't ready to apply These problems may all feel insurmountable at first, but there's always help available. No matter what you're struggling with, there are resources available- if you need help, consider asking: Your school guidance counselor The admissions office of the school you're applying to Teachers A tutor They may not have all the answers, but chances are that they can point you in the direction of someone who does. Don't let fear or embarrassment keep you from seeking the education you dream of. These are just a few ideas- if whatââ¬â¢s giving you trouble isnââ¬â¢t covered below, keep reading anyway! A lot of issues overlap, and you may find your answer in a surprising place. What If You Can't Figure Out Which Colleges to Apply To? Figuring out which college to go to is a huge decision- one that can be paralyzing if you donââ¬â¢t know where to begin. But there are lots of resources to help you make your choice, even if youââ¬â¢re not sure what you want to study, whether you want to stay in your state, or whether you want to start at a four-year university. However, this is a big question. If you still have lots of time to make a decision- such as if you're in your junior year- itââ¬â¢s time to start doing research. There are lots of online resources to help with this, including college websites and our own guides, including how to figure out which schools to apply to, how many colleges you should apply to, and how to calculate your admission chances. Fall of your senior year is typically when youââ¬â¢ll be applying to colleges, so if that deadline has passed, you may be looking at taking a little time off.Taking some time off isnââ¬â¢t necessarily a bad thing. If youââ¬â¢re struggling with your application, the extra time can help you narrow down what schools you want to apply to rather than forcing you to rush to a decision. Donââ¬â¢t panic about running late; you still have good options! Take time to do your research, donââ¬â¢t just apply to schools that come to mind. Seek out college fairs if you can, and consult with your schoolââ¬â¢s guidance counselor to find schools that are right for your needs. What If You Don't Understand Your Application? College applications can be a little dense, particularly if youââ¬â¢re not familiar with a lot of the language they use. But there are lots of resources to help in this department, too- with social media and blogs, you can find all kinds of people online discussing how to handle a collegeââ¬â¢s application. If you want something a little more personal, try speaking to your schoolââ¬â¢s guidance counselor. Theyââ¬â¢re experienced in this field, and can help walk you through the parts that are confusing. If speaking with your schoolââ¬â¢s guidance counselor doesnââ¬â¢t give you enough information, look up the admissions department of the college youââ¬â¢re applying to. Some schools have direct liaisons between high school students and the admissions office, or they may just be able to answer general questions for you. Itââ¬â¢s better to ask your question and know for certain than to not fill something out for fear of being wrong, so hang up your fear of the telephone or email and reach out. You don't need to turn to an underground arm-wrestling career to pay for college. What If You're Not Sure You Can Afford College? College is expensive- thatââ¬â¢s just a fact. But there is lots of financial aid available, including grants, loans, and scholarships. However, itââ¬â¢s rare that that money will offer itself up to you. You have to apply for it. There are many different types of scholarships and contests you can apply to, many of which can offer a great deal of money for things you already do. Again, your schoolââ¬â¢s guidance counselor is a good resource if youââ¬â¢re feeling a little unsure about where to start. Donââ¬â¢t be afraid to set up a meeting with them if youââ¬â¢re not sure how to apply or what documents youââ¬â¢ll need. No matter what your circumstances are, there are resources available to help you pay for college. Students with no financial assistance from parents or guardians, undocumented students, and even students who may not be eligible for grants all have options, even if you have to make some concessions about where you want to go. Being a community college transfer student may be the right idea for you to save some money now but still get the college education you want. What If You're Struggling With Grades? Grades are one of the most important parts of your college education. But if yours arenââ¬â¢t where they should be, that doesnââ¬â¢t mean you canââ¬â¢t get into college. The earlier you get started on fixing your grades, the better. But even if deadlines are looming, itââ¬â¢s never too late to make changes in your work process and study habits to improve things. Donââ¬â¢t be afraid to reach out for help from teachers or counselors. If you can demonstrate that youââ¬â¢re serious about improving, your teachers may be able to help you make a plan for how to do better. Obviously, you canââ¬â¢t just change your grades. But working hard to improve them is totally possible, and colleges want to see you actively working on self-improvement. If you can show that you're putting in the effort through an upswing in your GPA, a year of bad grades may not look as bad to admissions offices. If youââ¬â¢ve experienced a slip in grades because of outside circumstances, be sure to address that in your college application. Transparency and honesty are good things, especially when you can show through improvements that youââ¬â¢re working to do better. Aside from teachers and counselors, a tutor may also be valuable. Tutors can help you identify weak points in your knowledge and address them, not only helping you fix your grades right now, but also preparing you with improved study habits and learning foundations that will help you in college, too. What If You're Struggling With Letters of Recommendation? Teachers are the standard for letters of recommendation, but if youââ¬â¢re struggling to find teachers to write your letters, donââ¬â¢t panic. This may be particularly difficult for homeschooled students or those who may not have as close of relationships with their instructors. But teachers arenââ¬â¢t the only people who can write a great letter. Youââ¬â¢ll want to stay away from family members and friends, who canââ¬â¢t really offer an objective view, but other people in positions of authority who know you and your work ethic can be good options, too. Consider school counselors, athletic coaches, instructors outside of school (such as a piano teacher), or even supervisors at work as possible alternatives. A good letter of recommendation will tell the school youââ¬â¢re applying to about your work ethic and your strengths, and any of those figures could be a great alternative to a teacher if you need one. It's okay to get inspiration from others, but make sure your work is your own. What If You're Struggling With Your Essay? College essays are an important part of the application, but they can also be intimidating to write. One of the most important things to know about seeking help for your essay is that you shouldnââ¬â¢t look for help writing or even coming up with topics- instead, look for help once youââ¬â¢ve written a draft. Too much help can actually be a hindrance. If a college doubts that youââ¬â¢re the sole author of your essay, it could count against you. Feedback is great, and you should absolutely seek it out, but be sure that your essay is by you, not by whoever has helped you with it. Essentially, always be sure that the sentences you write are your sentences. Take any advice you get to heart, but donââ¬â¢t feel like the way that others suggest to write your work is inherently better than the way that youââ¬â¢d write it. What If You Need Help With Standardized Tests? SAT and ACT scores are a big part of your college application, but itââ¬â¢s easy to get intimidated by the process of studying and analyzing your strong and weak points. First of all, know which test is going to benefit you most. Depending on what you want to study and what your strengths are, the ACT or SAT may be more beneficial to you. The earlier you start studying and practicing, the better. You can take both tests multiple times to make sure you get the best score you can. Take advantage of this, so that youââ¬â¢re not stuck with an unimpressive score down the road. If you find that youââ¬â¢re not improving as much as youââ¬â¢d like, consider a tutoring service. PrepScholar offers consultations, a self-guided program that addresses your weak points, and a complete tutoring program to give you one-on-one coaching. There are many books and other resources available, so start early and take advantage of them! Be careful that the help you get doesn't fall into cheating. What Shouldn't You Get Help With? Thereââ¬â¢s nothing thatââ¬â¢s entirely off-limits in seeking college application help, but be sure that youââ¬â¢re getting help, not having someone do the work for you. Many college applications are reviewed holistically, meaning that though they may weigh one aspect more heavily than others (such as grades), the entire application is considered important. If things donââ¬â¢t match up- such as your essay having a different writing style- it could give a bad impression. Thatââ¬â¢s why if youââ¬â¢re going to use essay writing services, they should be geared toward helping you find ideas and refine your work, not helping you write the essay itself. Obviously, you shouldnââ¬â¢t pay anybody money to do anything on your behalf, whether itââ¬â¢s writing your essay, improving your grades, or taking tests for you. All your work should be original and completed by you. Seek help if you need it, but be sure that the help you get is aimed at your growth, not doing work for you! Not every kind of help is right for everybody. How to Get the Best Help Any kind of service, including essay help and tutoring, can be expensive. Be sure that you look into what a service offers in detail, including if there are free trials, money-back guarantees, or other offers to take advantage of. Trials help ensure that a system will work for you, meaning you're more likely to get the help you need. Reviews can be a big help, especially because so many other students are experiencing the same thing that you are. You can consult people you know or online reviews to find services that sound right for you. One of the best things you can do is find people in your own life who have experience with applying to college, whether theyââ¬â¢re teachers, counselors, family, or friends. These people know you best, and are likely already invested in your success. Itââ¬â¢s important that whoever you consult with understand that you should succeed on your own terms- that is, they should help you reach your goals by coaching and giving you feedback, not by doing work for you. The Churchs Teaching On Euthanasia Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1500 words
The Churchs Teaching On Euthanasia - Assignment Example A person suffering from severe pain may not deserve to experience it from a humanitarian point of view. Thus, euthanasia or an act of mercy killing has become one of the most debatable issues in contemporary time because for some it might be the right answer but for others, it is the wrong way around. For instance, Catholic Church strongly opposes euthanasia. It is evident that the church strongly believes that it is a crime before God. Catholic Church believes that it is only God who has the right to take back our lives since He creates them. Thus, He alone has the right to destroy what He has created. Euthanasia, as defined to be mercy killing, is just a way to eliminate the pain from the point of view of those who supported it. However, the Catholic Church strongly opposes it due to its strong stand that it is not actually eliminating the pain but actually the patient. This stand can be clearly elaborated based on how the Catholic Church defined the value of life (Vatican, 1980). I n this point of view of the church, euthanasia is considered a way just like of a murder in which the patient is denied his or her right to live. This is due to the point of the church that with euthanasia it is life by itself which has to be eliminated from the person. The Catholic Church strongly opposes euthanasia because based on its stand, the very act of eliminating life of an individual even though it may help him from not experiencing too much adverse pain should not be initiated by human hands.

To Believe or Not To Believe :: essays research papers
To Believe or Not to Believe The short narrative ââ¬Å"Salvationâ⬠portrays the life of Langston Hughes at an early age confronted with the decision to ââ¬Å"come forwardâ⬠and be saved. His auntââ¬â¢s church,ââ¬Å" held a special meeting for children, ââ¬Ëto bring the young lambs to the foldââ¬â¢Ã¢â¬ (Hughes, 197). Throughout the story, he sits in his seat, his aunt Reed sobbing the whole time, congregation pressuring him to ââ¬Å"come and be saved,â⬠and waiting to see Jesus. Yet nothing ever happens-no ââ¬Å"bright light,â⬠no Jesus, nothing. The church is full of ââ¬Å"a mighty wail of moans and voicesâ⬠(198) waiting for Langston to get up and see Jesus. So he does. He cannot wait any longer and lies to the entire congregation, simply saying he was saved, but only to save from any further trouble. In the end, he never ââ¬Å"seesâ⬠Jesus, keeps his lie a secret from his aunt, believes there isnââ¬â¢t even a Jesus, and is farther from the truth than ever. à à à à à The story does have good logic. It is understandable if someone is completely turned off to the gospel because they were pressured or forced to accept Christianity. It is not that personââ¬â¢s fault if that do dislike the truth of the Bible. It is, however, the fault of whomever was doing the witnessing. They either did a terrible job presenting the gospel message, or they didnââ¬â¢t have any Scripture to back up their words. In Hughesââ¬â¢ case, the gospel presentation was the worst Iââ¬â¢d ever heard: going from ââ¬Å"a wonderful rhythmical sermon, all moans and shouts and lonely cries and dire pictures of hell, and then he sang a song about the ninety and nine safe in the fold, but one little lamb was left out in the coldâ⬠(197). What a smooth transition. à à à à à In my auntââ¬â¢s case, she, too, was completely turned off to the gospel. At her husbandââ¬â¢s funeral, two or three nuns came up to her and attempted to witness to her. Attempted mind you. What may or may not shock some people (however not surprising to me), was that they blatantly told my aunt that her husband went to hell. Again, this is at her funeral. I do not know if he did or did not believe in Christ as his Savior-I was too young at the time-but what an unfortunate way to let her know about the grace of God. It is no wonder she is still turned off to the gospel to this day.

The Advantages and Disadvantages to Robotics
In this paper we will be talking about the advantages and disadvantages of robotics in the modern era. The use of robotics in the modern era has greatly increased since the prior era. I will explain how robots are used everywhere from industrial companies to medical facilities. The first thing that I will be discussing is the advantages of robotics. In 2006 a California based intuitive Surgical Inc. launched a new surgical system called ââ¬Å"the da Vinci surgical systemâ⬠. This is based from an article in the May 2010 edition of Yale scientific magazine this system was a major advantage for both doctors and patients going through major surgeries. One of the greatest aspects of this system is that its precise surgical tools are controlled by remote access. The surgeon, sitting at a console located several feet from the patient on the operating table, uses a hand and foot based control panel. This system has multiple arms with numerous tools like a scalpel, scissors. Also the system has a full 3-D stereoscopic vision of any and all procedures. The da Vinci System offers many advantages over open surgery for both the surgeon and the patient. For the surgeon, the robotic arms offer greater mobility since their range of rotation is not constrained like the human wrists. In other words while cutting off tissue this can be done in one swift movement instead of the Jerking and start stop movement.

Children With A Child With Autism - 1365 Words
Children with autism tend to have their ability to comprehend spoken language overestimated more than any other child with a disability (Miniscalco, 2011). Many children may be able to express language, but their ability to process spoken language is lacking. It is important not to assume they understand and comprehend spoken language especially when it comes to school performance. In the school and home, adults can mistake lack of comprehension for noncompliance. That is when a child with autism is asked to do something and they just stare it may be because they are unable to comprehend the meaning behind what was said. Teachers should talk less and show more (Project Access, 2015). On the other hand, a child may respond to languageâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦They may not be able to determine gestures such as waving or motioning to come near. They can be most often literal and unable to lie. A normal functioning student is able to lie especially to get themselves out of trouble. A student with autism will take things literally such as when they are up walking and you ask them to sit down. Instead of going to their chair and sitting, they may sit where they stand. These students may not qualify for speech services for articulation and sound, but will need language therapy to provide them with the means to be effective communicators. With all students in and out of the school system their independence and success is based on their cognitive function. There are major cognitive differences with students with ASD. However, cognitive differences do not necessarily mean that they are intellectually disabled. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (2015), forty-six percent of children diagnosed with autism have average or above average intelligence. On the other hand being able to retain knowledge or answer questions on a standardized test does not mean that you are able to apply the knowledge gained to become independent. Children with ASD tend to make their own unique associations rather than typical ones. For instance they may not know associate a person heading for the door is intending to leave, they may associate that movement
